The Gratitude Gala Awards

Started in 2011, the Gratitude Gala Awards is an annual celebration that honours organizations, employers and individuals who are creating workplace diversity, improving living conditions for new Canadians and creating opportunities for immigrants living in the province of Manitoba. The event includes a formal dinner, keynote speaker presentation and awards ceremony with the following categories:

Buntu Award: Person who has demonstrated leadership, dedication and a spirit of compassion in the areas of immigrant services and has made important contributions to enhancing the lives of newcomers in Manitoba.

Malayika Award: A newcomer (Immigrant or Refugee) who has achieved success in the creation or operation of a business in Manitoba.

Nyota Award: A newcomer (Immigrant or refugee) between the ages of 14 and 30 who has made an outstanding contribution or significant achievement in one or more of the following areas: academics, arts and culture, sports, community and volunteer activities.

Rafiki Award: An employer, government or non-profit organization that has made outstanding achievements in implementing diversity initiatives in the workplace or has made significant contributions by caring about newcomers in Manitoba.
